The annual election period for Medicare begins October 15th and runs through December 7th (click here to watch). If you are age 65 or older you should consider your options during this time.  In this interview with Lance Otey, a health insurance expert in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area, we discuss some things you should be considering when reviewing your coverage during the annual election period.

Have your prescriptions or doctors changed?  Or have you had any frustrations with your current Medicare coverage?  Now is the time to be reviewing your options and if your policy still meets your needs.

The old saying of “change is inevitable” rings true with Medicare benefits as well.  Doctors go in and out of networks, prescriptions and treatment plans change, and the actual insurance plans can change as well.  Therefore, it is vitally important to review your Medicare coverage each year and make sure your policies are still meeting your needs.  Making changes won’t necessarily be needed each year but failing to review your policies could lead to a costly mistake down the road.
